Find your fit

One home. A considered frontage.

Start with the look you like. We’ll discuss the space, material and finish with you.

Made to fit your frontage

Post positions, panel widths and gate openings all affect the finished appearance. Measuring the actual frontage lets us plan the spacing and proportions rather than treating every opening as a standard panel size.

The site assessment also considers changing ground levels, existing walls, access for installation and where the driveway gate will move. Tell us what needs to remain and what you would like replaced.

Aluminium or steel?

Aluminium can be a useful choice where reducing the weight of panels and gates matters. It does not develop iron rust, but it is not immune to corrosion or coating damage. Exposure, surface preparation and compatible hardware still matter, particularly near the coast.

Design & installation details

Steel can suit designs that need a stiffer frame or heavier sections. Its protection system needs to be appropriate for the site, and damaged areas require attention. The choice should account for the whole design rather than the material name alone.

We discuss material alongside the fence height, span, infill and gate requirements. A like-for-like quote is more useful than assuming one metal will always be cheaper or last longer.

Choose the balance of privacy and openness

Vertical slats
A clean-lined option with the spacing selected to suit the desired appearance and visibility. The proposed height and transparency still need to meet any controls affecting the property.

Horizontal battens
A horizontal pattern that can connect visually with the house or garden. Frame support, panel spans and boundary levels need to be considered with the layout.

Picket or tube infill
An open style that can suit a traditional frontage or a design where visibility through the fence is important.

Privacy-focused panels
Closer spacing or a suitable panel arrangement can reduce views into the property. Privacy needs to be balanced with wind exposure and visibility around the driveway.

COLORBOND® steel for side and rear fencing

COLORBOND® steel has a factory-applied paint finish; it is not the same finish as a gate powder coated in our workshop. It offers a practical option for side and rear privacy fencing, with the layout and colour selected for the boundary.

Design & installation details

Low maintenance does not mean no maintenance. Follow the manufacturer’s care guidance and keep the fence clear of accumulated debris and conditions that can damage the finish.

For a shared boundary, discuss the work and proposed cost arrangements with your neighbour before proceeding. A quote alone is not an agreement between property owners.

Powder coating and colour

Our fabricated gates and panels are powder coated at our Dandenong workshop. We can discuss the finish alongside the colour of your roof, window frames or existing fencing. Physical samples are more useful than a screen image for a final colour choice.

Design & installation details

The preparation and coating system should suit both the metal and its exposure. Ask about any additional requirements for a coastal property, and confirm the care instructions for the finish supplied.

Gates designed with the fence

Planning the fence and gates together helps align the infill, finish and overall proportions. A driveway opening also needs enough space for the chosen gate to move, plus access for pedestrians and maintenance.

Heights, boundaries and approvals

Check the proposed fence with your council or building surveyor before ordering. Height is only part of the assessment: the location, material, street corner, planning zone and overlays can affect what is allowed. A building-permit exemption does not automatically mean that planning approval is unnecessary.

Design & installation details

Confirm the legal boundary rather than assuming the existing fence or kerb marks it. Any required approvals should be settled before fabrication. General information on this page is not a decision for an individual property.

What affects the quote?

The main variables are the length and height, frame and infill, ground conditions, finish, removal of existing work and any matching gates. Ask which items are included and which require a separate trade or approval.

Payment terms, exclusions and the expected programme belong in the written quote. Any changes to the agreed scope should be discussed before the additional work proceeds.

Common questions

Can the fence and gate match?

Yes. We can plan the material, infill and colour together. The gate still needs its own clearances, supports and operating space.

Is aluminium maintenance-free?

No. Aluminium avoids iron rust, but the finish, hardware and exposed joints still need care. Follow the instructions for the products used at your property.

Can you build on a sloping boundary?

The fence may be stepped or designed to follow the slope, depending on the fall and style. The layout needs to be assessed on site.

Do I need to know the exact measurements?

An estimate and a photo are enough for the first enquiry. Final dimensions are checked before the work is fabricated.

Is a low front fence automatically permit-free?

Not necessarily. Planning controls and other site-specific requirements may still apply. Check before ordering.

Where do you install?

We are based in Dandenong and serve Melbourne, including Brighton, Hampton, Beaumaris, Doncaster and Mount Martha.
